After a long week of Round Robin play, the top eight teams start the Knockout stage of each event tomorrow. FIve of the six US teams made the cut, as well as two of the three Canadian teams. Here are the final standings in the Bermuda Bowl , Venice Cup and Senior Bowl Round Robins. In each event, the top team in the Round Robin chose its quarterfinal opponent from the teams that had finished 5th through 8th, then the second place team chose its opponent from the remaining 3 5-8 teams, the third place team chose its opponent and the 4th place team played the remaining 5-8 team. Next the Round Robin winner chose its semi-final opponent (or at least the match from which its semi-final opponent would come). In the Venice Cup, however, the chosen semi-final pairing is subject to change if both US teams win - in that case they will play each other in the semi-finals. Subject to that possible change,  here are the pairings and carryover for the three events:

Bermuda Bowl:

2. USA 1 plays Australia in the Quarterfinal. USA1 starts +16 IMPs, having defeated Australia by over 32 IMPs in the Round Robin (the maximum carryover for the Quarterfinal and Semifinal is 16 IMPs)

4.  Norway plays China SMEG in the Quarterfinal. Norway starts +8, having defeated China SMEG by 16 in their Round Robin match.

Italy chose USA1 for its Semifinal opponent, so 1 will play 2 and 3 will play 4.

Slightly more personal report Smile

Sorry, it's been a long day, and I didn't do anything of interest. Supposedly tomorrow we're going to have a typhoon to keep all of us in the playing site! But hopefully it will be either over-rated or blow past us. I promise to find time to fill in the carry-overs for the Venice Cup and Senior Bowl tomorrow, but now it's bedtime.
