General Bidding Style

5-card majors, 4+D (unbalanced), and 2+C
May respond with very weak hands
1NT: 14-16 when 1st and 2nd any vul or 3rd non-vul
15-17 when 3rd vul or 4th any vul
Open 95%+ of hands with 11 or more HCP
Opening preempts are undisciplined, especially in non-vul 1st and 3rd seats (we frequently have 5-card suits for weak 2)
1M-(P)-2C: 2+ GF

3rd seat opening:
1M: can be 4
1D: can be lead-directional, not necessarily unbalanced

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

Opening leads:
VS. NT: Attitude length leads
K= unblock or count, A or Q= attitude
VS. Suit: 3rd/low length leads
A from AK (except AK tight, 5 level or higher, leading partners suit or before switching to singleton)

Middle of the hand:
Through declarer VS all contracts: 2nd/4th including low from doubleton and coded J109
Through dummy: same as opening lead

Defensive Signals

Upside-down count and attitude
Reverse Smith by both against NT
Trump suit preference
Standard remainder count from suits already played

Against suit contracts over partner opening lead, if we think partner is going to win the trick we encourage if we can't stand the obvious shift, and we discourage if we can stand the obvious shift.
