Bids that Require Advance Preparation

2D: Weak 2 in a major. Can easily be a 5-card suit. Wide range.

2H: Short diamonds, 11-15

2S: Good diamond preempt

2NT: Both minors, less than an opening bid

3NT: 4 of a minor opening

Precision. 1C starts around 16, can be less with unbalanced hands.

Generally open all 11-point hands, can be lighter if distributional

1D: 11-15, 2+ diamonds

1M: 5-card major, 11-15

1NT: 10-12 1st and 2nd non-vul, 14-16 1st and 2nd vul, 15-17 3rd and 4th.

2C: 6+ clubs, 10-15

vs. Suits: 3rd and 5th. K from AKx(x). Otherwise standard honor leads.

Vs. NT: 4th best. Standard honor leads.

Attitude leads in middle of hand.

Defensive Signals

Upside-down count and attitude. Generally attitude on partner's lead, count on declarer's lead. Suit-preference when count/attitude are clearly known or don't matter.
