Bids that Require Advance Preparation

After an opponent's 1C or 1D opening, 2H shows both majors, NF. With a very strong major-suited hand we would start with dbl, so the 2H overcall is likely limited to about 16 hcp. Direct cuebids and jump cuebids of an opponent's 1 of a minor are natural. We play Roman overcalls and cuebids of an opponent's major opening. (1H) - 2H = spades and clubs. (1H) - 2S = spades and diamonds. (1H) - 3C or 3D shows 6+ in that minor and 4 of the other major. (1S) - 2S = typically 4 hearts and an unknown 6+ minor. (1S) - 3C or 3D = that minor and usually 5 of the other major.
2D over an opponent's 1NT opening may show an unspecified major, but in 4th seat or by a passed hand it would show diamonds + an unknown major. Over strong club systems we play dbl=majors, 1N=canape with a longer minor, 2C=minors, 2D=one major, 2H=hearts + minor and 2S=spades + a minor. We also play after partner's 1C opening bid, 2D by responder = mini=flannery, 4-5 or 4-6 in the majors with less than an invite to game.

General Bidding Style

Fairly standard bidding style. 3rd seat openings may be simply lead-directing. NV vs. VUL opening preempts may be a wide range. Weak 2 bids are fairly standard, but occasionally may be a five card suit NV.

Opening Leads AND Leads in the Middle of the Hand

3rd and 5th vs. suits. 4th best vs. NT. Rusinow vs. NT.

Defensive Signals

Standard count and attitude. Upside down attitude discards only. Attitude take preference in most cases. We signal only when we feel it helps partner.
